Chrome 101

Hello all!

First post in here, so let's get cracking!

But before anything else, you must be wondering... why should you use Chrome?

Well, there are two main reasons: It is free and it is fast. Really, REALLY fast. (If you would like to check, click HERE. Several tests, plus, the site is great to browse around if you are into that sorta thing)

If you haven't yet, you can download Google Chrome HERE. We'll wait.

Are you done? Great, let's continue.

But what now, you must be wondering. You are no idiot, you know how to set you homepage and save your favorites every since Internet Explorer 4, right? Well, this is no "Internet School", since, well, we are not in god damn 1998. No, what I am going to talk about in here is how to use all features, while still remaining in the user level. I'm not gonna list keyboard shortcuts, developer tips and what-nots, I am going to focus in how to turn your browser into your own personal space in whatever computer you use. Chrome goes beyond the simple "Open new tab, go to Facebook, go to Youtube, wash, rinse, repeat". And even those things can get better! And no, I am not talking about the anonymous mode you use to hide your dirty dirty websites (dude, seriously, why do you keep going back there?).

When you open a new tab, you might notice you can move the screen to the right by clicking in the right side of the screen. There, you might also note one little thing. Namely, this:

So yeah, maybe not in portuguese, but you get it

This is the Chrome Web Store. In it, you can download Apps and Extensions to run directly from your browser.

Most of you probably know what an App is, with the avalanche of Smartphones around that use them. They are simple applications, like a small program, that runs on the browser. It can be anything from a Calculator to some very impressive games (like the sweet warm embrace of love that is Bastion)

It gives eye-orgasms. LOOK AT THE COLOURS.

An extension is a background feature that runs automatically, doing one little task or another. My personal favorite is one done by a fellow brazilian that lets you bypass those annoying download link protectors, but I have several I want to share with everyone.

For now I think this is enough. Keep reading for a little more in-depth explanation on apps and extensions, aswell as some general Chrome tips, and then we can go right into the good stuff!

Class Dismissed =P
